The oils for Grizzly Salmon Plus™ are derived from food-grade fish, thanks to our founder's ingenious idea of producing our extraction equipment alongside fish processing equipment for humans. Instead of catching (or farming) fish to make our oils, we use all wild-caught, food-grade fish that are already intended for human consumption. Omega fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids are important fats that pets need to consume through food to maintain optimal health. Omega-3 fatty acids: long-chain fatty acids DHA, EPA and ALA DHA: supports the cardiovascular, nervous and immune systems.

ALA: Only about 15% is nutritionally available for skin and coat health. *Omega-6s: Linoleic acid (LA) – essential in small amounts. Increased levels of omega-6 can trigger an inflammatory response.
Most pet foods are too high in omega-6. High levels of omega-6 must be balanced with omega-3 supplements such as Grizzly Salmon Plus™. Omega-9s: provides a good source of energy The body produces its own omega-9 fatty acids when needed. No nutritionally important fatty acid. The body burns excess omega-9 as a high-calorie source of energy.
Why is the balance between omega-3 and omega-6 so important? Scientific research has shown that the optimal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 balance is in the range of 1:3 to 1:6 (omega-3:omega-6) for optimal animal health. Unfortunately, many generic and even premium pet foods contain a much higher percentage of omega-6 fatty acids, ranging from 1:10 to 1:20. Grizzly Salmon Plus™ has a ratio of approximately 10:1 (omega-3:omega-6), making it an excellent solution for adjusting the omega-3/omega-6 ratio of your pet's food to the target ratio of approximately 1:5.
